This series of original artworks is inspired by the stories my Baagii (Nan) and her side of the family have passed down to my Guni (Mum) about living on the Namoi river. She often told stories of how much she enjoyed growing up on Namoi Reserve with her sisters, brothers and family. The colour palette and imagery in these four artworks have been directly inspired by the gums, foliage and patterns of gali (water), and also how being by the river makes us feel.

Description
Mimicking water flowing in the river, fluid lines are symbolic of the stories, experiences and memories tied to being by the river. Drawing inspiration from green gums along the river bank, Lakkari uses shades of emerald and brown, symbolising wind flowing through the trees creating different shadows and colours. Smaller and larger figures are symbolised throughout this artwork, representing us being together by the gali (water).
